Ha Giang Province People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Truong To has been suspended from his position for allegedly being involved with prostitution.

To, 57, vice secretary of the provincial party committee and former director of Ha Giang Province’s Plan and Investment Department, was alleged to have been involved with a prostitute who had pictures of a naked To in her cell phone.

He was also alleged to have connections with a prostitution ring uncovered in the province.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung had asked the People’s Council of northern Ha Giang Province to remove To from his position as chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and member of the People’s Council, Government office chairman Nguyen Xuan Phuc said yesterday, July 25.

To’s dismissal from the Party was also announced yesterday by Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Truong Tan Sang and Ha Giang’s Party Secretary Hoang Minh Nhat.

The dismissal was a result of To’s unhealthy lifestyle, which has violated the morality of Party members and tarnished the image of leaders.

The provincial People’s Council is set to officially dismiss To from the position of People’s Committee chairman in a coming meeting this week.

Hoang Dinh Cham, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee has been appointed as the administration’s executive chief.  Back to News Main Page
